Scrapbooking For Beginners - Easy Tips to Help You Get Started by Michael Vroom
Never made a scrapbook of your own? No problem. You see, it's actually quite easy to start your own scrapbook. Over the past few years scrapbooking has become a very popular hobby, and perhaps you've finally decide to do something with those boxes of photos that you have sitting in your closet. Scrapbooking is a wonderful way that you can take all those photos and turn them into something memorable that you'll have to enjoy in the future. If you aren't quite sure where to begin with your new scrapbooking project, here are a few ideas that will help you as you begin.
Get the Right Supplies
When you are starting out in scrapbooking for the very first time you are going to have to make sure that you have all the scrapbooking supplies that you need. Not sure what you need to buy? Well, here is a good list to get you started:
- Scrapbooking Supply #1 - The Scrapbook - Of course the first thing that you're going to need is the scrapbook itself. When you purchase one, you'll find a top loading scrapbook the easiest to work with.
- Scrapbooking Supply #2 - Plenty of Paper - You'll need to get plenty of scrapbooking paper as well as different types of cardstock to work with.
- Scrapbooking Supply #3 - Some Type of Adhesive - Some type of adhesive is important. Many people love working with glue sticks while others choose glue spray or double sided tape to make everything stick to the pages.
- Scrapbooking Supply #4 - Scissors or a Craft Knife - Having a good pair of scissors or even a sharp craft knife is going to be important so you can cut paper and photographs.
- Scrapbooking supply Supply #5 - Embellishments - You'll also want to have some embellishments to put throughout the book, such as stickers, ribbons, rub on letters, and a variety of other embellishments.
Pick Your Theme
After you have gathered together your supplies and equipment, you need to decide what you want your scrapbook to be about. Picking out a theme is a great idea, and there are many to choose from. Perhaps you want to scrapbook a special vacation, your brand new baby, your engagement and wedding, or perhaps even all those pictures from last Christmas. Choosing a theme will help you have direction when you start on the scrapbook.
Once you've come up with the theme that you have, you're ready to really get started on the scrapbook. You'll be able to come up with layouts for your photos and decide on scrapbooking papers and embellishments that will go along with them. Most of all, make sure you have fun. While you may not make a perfect scrapbook the first time, you'll definitely learn a lot and the next scrapbook you design and make will be even better from the experience.
